Short Bio:
I was born in Peru and attended Markham College. I spent two years at the United World College of the Atlantic in Wales, then majored in Economics at Princeton University I completed my Economics Ph.D. at the University of Pennsylvania after a period working with the UNDP in Maputo, Mozambique. I am currently a Professor at the George Washington University in Washington, DC, and Director of Graduate Studies of the Economics Department Ph.D. program.

Roberto Samaniego is Professor of Economics and International Affairs at George Washington University. He received his PhD in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania in 2001. He holds a BA in Economics and a Certificate in East Asian Studies from Princeton University. Professor Samaniego has published articles in leading economics journals including the American Economic Review, the Journal of Monetary Economics, the Review of Economic Dynamics and the Journal of Economic Growth. His primary research interests are in macroeconomics and economic growth - particularly the relationship between technical progress, entrepreneurship and institutions. He is also the Director of Graduate Studies of the Economics Department Ph.D. program.
In his sparse spare time Prof. Samaniego enjoys spending time with his family, who are the ***BEST***, as well as music, sports, nature, other stuff and making lists.
Prof. Samaniego's Erdős number is 4. His Einstein number is 6. His Math Genealogy (i.e. the network via doctoral advisors) includes Prescott, Savage, Leontief, Poisson, Lagrange, Laplace, Euler, Gauss, Bernoulli, Leibniz, Kepler, Brahe, Copernicus and ibn Sina (Avicenna).
